Secur32.dll contains the Secure Service Provider Interface (SSPI) that allows developers to use secure socket services created by different providers. With SSPI a Secure Service Provider (SSP) is loaded by the system then queried for the capabilities that it supports.

SSPI is a plugin interface that uses secur32.dll to load SSPs. By using secur32.dll integrated security services are provided to program developers and application protocol designers so security functions can be implemented without directly affecting the protocol itself.

Secur32.dll enables enhanced security mechanisms including authentication so it complements authentication protocols. It is capable of retaining message integrity and ensures message privacy as well as security quality of service for distributed application protocols.
