AdURL – Please Don’t!
AdURL is adware that attaches itself to your computer and brings you an endless stream of unwanted advertisements, usually in the form of popups or popunders, targeted to either what it wants to sell you, or if it has established itself on your computer long enough to determine your surfing habits, things that you yourself appear to be interested in. It can also appear as links that lead you to unwanted sites.
You didn’t give this adware permission to come over, either. It probably landed on your computer via a download from a questionable site. This site may have asked to you download a video codec file in order to view or download the content you were interested in, and as soon as you did, you have a host of new “friends” on your computer. AdURL may not be the worst of what has arrived uninvited to your PC. Other malicious spyware, malware and fraudware that can do much more damage may also take up residence, causing you to be at risk for a catastrophic loss of information, including items like credit card numbers, pin numbers, bank account numbers and more. You can imagine the problems this can cause.
Getting rid of AdURL is not a simple matter either. Unless you are an extremely skilled computer tech, you may easily miss bits and pieces of AdURL, which would be like doing nothing at all! This type of adware does a great job of hiding where it’s hanging out, and in your efforts to try and eliminate this threat, it would be very easy to eliminate certain necessary files needed for the operation of your computer, and then you’re really in trouble.
Instead, take advantage of an antispyware solution, the best of which I know of is ZookaWare PC Cleaner. It offers a 100% spyware removal guarantee, and will save you the hassle of trying to do it all yourself.
