Barogo.ab – An Adware to Be Aware Of!
Barogo.ab is a piece of adware whose sole aim is to use your computer as a platform to deliver unsolicited advertising to your screen, in the hopes that you will click on some of their ads, and thus make them money. It also enables third party servers to collect data about you, which they can then sell, or otherwise abuse, to the point where your computer is ultimately overtaken by these programs, and becomes virtually useless. It will drain all your system resources, and hijack your browser so completely that you will be able to conduct simple searches without having to be confronted with these ads and other media, some of it quite offensive!
You probably were unlucky enough to get a dose of Barogo.ab either by the exploits of a Trojan such as Vundo or Zlob, or possibly through a bad video file, shareware or freeware. These can come bundled with a lot of other, really nasty software that can do real harm to your computer. It’s actually one of the ways some of these spyware and fraudware designers get their products onto your machines, by bundling them with free software that you may have an interest in, and then BAM! They’ve got you!
Getting rid of programs like Barogo.ab and others like it is no walk in the park, either! They are very skilled at concealing themselves deep within the system files of your computer, and ferreting them out is no easy task. They look very legitimate, and if you don’t know precisely what you are doing you will more than likely delete something you actually need to run your computer, and then you’re really up the virtual creek!
Do yourself a favor and go for a proven antispyware to kill these and others like it. The best I know of is called ZookaWare PC Cleaner, and it will take care of Barogo.ab and friends, leaving you free to roam the Web again without commercial interruption!
