Rustock is a backdoor trojan that allows an attacker to control your computer from a remote location and use it for fraudulent intents such as sending out spam emails. Rustock uses advanced rootkit techniques to hide the files and registry subkeys it creates, and enables the hacker to change network settings, execute commands, modify system files and access private information.

Rustock should be removed once detected. To remove Rustock manually, you should kill all associated running processes, then locate all related files and values in the Windows registry so that they can be deleted. Manual removal may cause damage to your PC and is not advised. To remove Rustock automatically, it is suggested you use a reputable spyware removal tool such as Spyzooka, which is intended for this purpose.
