Aureate – It’s Everywhere, and It’s Slick!

Aureate is an incredibly prolific family of spyware that while sometimes apparently inept, have the ability to make your computing life miserable and your machine virtually useless. Aureate and the others in its clan secretly install themselves on your computer, without your permission or knowledge, and set up a virtual spy shop on your PC, where they send on information about you and your surfing habits and preferences to third parties around the world. It is their stated aim to sell your info, and Aureate does this without so much as a Thank You!

Each time you open up your web browser, Aureate sends instructions and information to servers all over, usually not directly connected to Aureate’s own servers. This is a huge hole in your system security, as the type of files it invites are allowed to accept and download any file into your system named “update-dll.exe” and then have Windows run this unknown to you program, which you have no idea what it is capable of.

It can and does skirt your firewalls, because it is a parasite that has hijacked your browsers usage permissions, and then sits there awaiting these servers to send stuff out to your computer, which it will then download and run. Not a pretty picture, huh? Not only that, the last count I saw was over 30 million computers having been infected with this bug.

Getting rid of Aureate is not for the faint of heart either. It is very adept at replicating itself and hiding deep within the recesses of your computer. Even if you were able to find it, you would not be able to get all the various files sequestered within your machine. Better to leave this to a proven antispyware software solution like ZookaWare PC Cleaner. It has the ability to find and destroy all traces of Aureate and free your computer from this living hell. Give it a try and see if I’m not right!
