Don’t Be Fooled By Adware.BHO.AJ

Adware.BHO.AJ is an adware that uses BHOs (Browser Helper Objects) to display advertisements. Don’t be fooled by Adware.BHO.AJ, into thinking those pop ups and advertisements are nothing. It can also be used for malicious purposes like gathering info on your surfing habits.

This adware can be downloaded unknowingly from other spyware/adware already on your system, or it can be bundled through other applications.

Pretending to be an installer for screensavers, this adware will latch onto your system and automatically install files. Eventually this will lead to those unwanted pop-ups and advertisements being displayed on your computer.

Since there is no one way to tell where the adware came from or how long it’s been there, it is recommended that you remember these tips when surfing and downloading information on the web.

Installing Updates – Always keep your operating system updated. When you’re notified of new updates install them immediately. Forgetting to install updates can cause problems for you later on down the road.

Security settings – Set your Internet security at the default level or higher. One of the biggest mistakes that people make is having their surfing security settings too low. This allows cookies and spyware programs to easily be stored in your computer memory.

Install an Anti-Spyware Program – The only way to prevent spyware is to install a high quality anti-spyware program on your computer to catch anything that slips through the cracks. A good anti-spyware program will be able to quarantine and delete spyware on your PC.

The final comment is: go with your gut feeling. If something doesn’t look trustworthy or it’s sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Avoid the “free music downloads,” and “free software offers,” as many of these are nothing buy spyware, just wanted for you to click the “YES” button so they can go to work destroying your computer. NEVER download anything that you question. Make sure that you get all of your utility system downloads from a trusted source.
