OS Protection Removal

OS Protection is a rogue security application that masquerades as a legitimate one and uses fear tactics to try to scare people out of their money. Instead of helping a computer, it will hinder its performance and slow its Internet connection. On top of this, OS Protection may deliver pop-up ads, change browser settings, possibly monitor your browsing habits, and download other malware.

OS Protection typically uses Trojan horse programs to infect a computer. Once it has been installed, OS Protection will begin to display false warning messages and try to initiate a phony system scan. The scan will only yield false results and the user will be prompted to buy the full version of OS Protection in order to have the imaginary threats removed.

Because of this, OS Protection should be removed immediately. To manually  remove it, you must stop the following process:

Then, you should delete the following files:

OS Protection.lnk
Uninstall OS Protection.lnk

Finally, the following registry entries should be deleted:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\OS Protection
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run “OS Protection”

This removal process may seem simple, but it isn’t. In fact, manual removal can be quite dangerous.
